Dr. Joe Vitale is such an inspiration to me. I was introduced to him years ago, and don't even remember by whom. You know how that is. But someone had suggested that I read a book by him called Spiritual Marketing. I did read it, several times, and so did my husband and most of my friends, and many of clients. And I've given the book as gifts numerous times. I found the book fantastic, engaging and very helpful. And from then on, I wanted to follow what Joe was up to. His is an amazingly prolific writer, stating himself that he's "the author of way too many books to mention".... and it's true!
I've tithed to Joe, and does that ever feel good, expressing my gratititude to him that way! He's one of the people whose ideas, writing, work and energy helps to pull me along my life path, helps me to stay focused on what I'm really doing here, and I'm so grateful to him for that.
I received Joe's email newsletter today, and in it was a reference to a Hawaiian kahuna doing some work that interested me quite a bit. The thing about this work, and the Hawaiian tradition that it comes from is that it is very closely aligned with what I believe, and somehow takes it to another level for me. The main theme of this work is that whatever problem you encounter in life, you ask Love/God to clear whatever is in YOU that is causing or contributing to the problem. You request that the pattern of that problem be cleared in you, and in your family, including all of your ancestors. This seems to me, to be the ultimate in terms of taking personal responsiblity and empowering oneself to transform things.
The man Joe wrote about had worked for years in a prison in Hawaii doing healing work on the prisoners....without ever even meeting them. And the healing changes in the individual prisoners he worked on has been documented formally. Truly wonderful and miraculous work!
I've been doing shadow work with myself and my clients for a long time, encouraging the asking of the question "And how am I just like that?" when encountering a conflict or negative feelings toward someone. It's an enormously helpful question that helps us pierce through the "us and them" illusion of separation and acknowledge and own our shadow parts, but this traditional Hawaiian work takes that question and creates a new one. It invites us to ask "How am I causing this problem?". And from there we may request the clearing of the pattern that's causing the problem, right then and there. The way to do this seems quite simple and accessible. It has to do with intention and asking--two very powerful components of transformation. And I'll be using it a lot myself, you can be sure of that!
